Mythos

Poseidon

Behind the Scenes

I’ve done many pieces based on mythological stories and hope to do many more if time allows. This sculpt was from the early days when I was trying to fill out my portfolio as quickly as possible, generating pieces at fever pitch and working endless hours to get as many out as possible. The Poseidon figurine features an attempt to sculpt a wave, something we all recognize but exists in an ephemeral state—so it’s a challenge to capture.

Poseidon

I’ve always loved mythological stories—all of them, regardless of which culture they came from. In somewhat typical fashion in the western world, the first myths I learned about were those from ancient Greece. Whether it was in the form of well-worn collections that had been handed down in the family, or old filmed adaptations, I devoured those tales.

In Greek mythology, Poseidon was the violent and ill-tempered god of the sea. One of the twelve Olympians, he was also feared as the provoker of earthquakes and worshipped as the creator of the horse.

Consequently, the resin and bronze castings in this edition were also produced through traditional mold making and manufacturing processes. Final Manifest Sculpt commissions are available in a variety of materials, but they are not 3D printed and are not available as printable files.
